Tips for Using Carbon BLOCK Filters :

always precede a Carbon Block Filter with a sediment filter that has a micron rating that is SMALLER (or equal to) the smallest micron rating of the Carbon Block.
all activated carbon only performs well at or below the stated recommended GPM flowrates.
Good at: pressure drops - especially the 5-10 micron Carbon Blocks, not clogging
Better at: removing very low amounts of sulfide taste, some carbon blocks process larger volumes of water
The Best at: reducing chlorine, taste, and odors.

Tips for Using Pentek RFC GAC Carbon Filters : we sell premium Pentek RFC (Radial Flow Carbon) GAC Filters for ultra-low pressure drops.

Good at: reducing chlorine, taste, and odors
Better at: processing more gallons of water than some carbon blocks
The Best at: giving you ultra-low pressure drops and not clogging due to 25 micron rating

Design your system for delivering good water pressure:

Good System: Use the 4.5" x 10" (10" Big Blue type) filter housings with 1" Ports
Best System: Use the 4.5" x 20 " (20" Big Blue type) filter housings and cartridges.
Install a quality ball valve before the system so you can shut off the water and open the housings to change the filter cartridges.

As the cartridges capture sediment and contaminants the pressure drop will continuously increase.

Pushing water up to the shower on the 2nd floor can cause an additional pressure drop of about 12 PSI per floor. Going from a basement to a second floor shower can cause a pressure drop of about 24 PSI.

Choose filter housings with a port size at least as big as your water pipe.
"Average typical" household water usage is approx. 75 gal. per person per day.
Do NOT expose any of these units to freezing temperatures (<35 degrees F) or direct sunshine.
