SteriPEN Portable UV Disinfection for Travelers
You won't find a cheaper price anywhere else on these!
- The SteriPEN Handheld Water Purifiers creates ultraviolet light that is proven to destroy the DNA of microbes in seconds.
- After doing this the microbes cannot reproduce or make you sick.
- Proven to destroy: Viruses, Bacteria, and Protozoa - including Giardia,Cryptosporidium, bird flu, influenzas, E. Coli, Salmonella, Staph & Step, Botulism, Cholera, Smallpox, Typhoid, traveler's diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis, and legionnaires disease.
- See the Testing Reports for proof of how effective this is!
- Disinfects hundreds of gallons of clear water using UV light!
- Geek Alert: Scientific Data Follows
- SteriPEN devices disinfect water using the UV disinfection wavelength of 258 nm (germicidal UVC). The UV dose (fluence) delivered to clear water is 80 milli-Joules per second/cm2 with a 3.47 log reduction (99.94%), and about 70 milli-Joules per second/cm2 with a 2.97 log reduction (99.8%) for turbid (cloudy) water, using MS2 virus in EPA Challenge Water.
- Easy to use intelligent device with sensors and automatic dosage: 1) Push button to activate, 2) Place lamp in clear water, 3) Stir until indicator light turns green. Drink.
- 3 models available: Classic (bigger), Traveler (compact-silver), and Adventurer (compact-black/yellow).
- All three models deliver the same high intensity UV dose of 80 mJ/cm2 for clear water and about 70 mJ/cm2 for turbid water. This is a VERY high UV dose!
- Light turns off automatically when UV lamp is pulled out of the water for safety.
- Any model will disinfect [1/2 Liter or less, such as a glass] and [1/2-1 Liter, such as a bottle] batches of clear water. Two choices of batch size.
- Water bottle Pre-filter is available for dirty or cloudy water to filter out fine particles and glacial silt with a 4 micron washable screen.
- Each UV Lamp (bulb) delivers about 5,000 UV doses.
- Supplied with 2 Lithium Disposable Batteries (CR123 photo type) to deliver about 140 doses of UV. FYI: Disposable batteries deliver about 3-4 times as many UV doses as a rechargeable battery.
- It's perfectly OK to replace these disposable with CR123 Lithium Rechargeable batteries - which will give you about 30-40 doses of UV between recharges, and will allow you to recharge them typically about 500 times. Rechargeable batteries are more eco-friendly and save you money.
- Optional Solar Charger / 110 volt AC Wall Outlet Charger with (2) CR123 Rechargeable Lithium Batteries is available for $79.95. Contains sun-powered solar cells to charge with sunlight wherever you go! Works only for the Traveler and Adventurer models.
- A full sun-charge takes about 2-5 days, so bring extra sets of batteries to use while recharging.
- An AC Wall Outlet charge completes in about 4-6 hours.
Highly Recommended for:
- travelers / vacationers
- humanitarian workers
- backpacking expeditions
- hiking trips / camping trips
- kayaking & canoeing trips
- survival kits / medical kits
- travel to countries with "at risk" water
- drinking water emergencies anywhere
- family emergency preparedness kits

Sterilite
UV Disinfection Systems -High Power
(2-11 GPM) Residential - Commercial
High Power UV Disinfection!
These UV Disinfection systems use high power UV Disinfection to kill 99.99% of bacteria, virus, and chlorine-resistant Cysts.
- Each model is rated to deliver the highest recommended UV Dose (that of the U.S. EPA and NSF) – which is 40 mili-Joules (mJ) of Ultraviolet energy per cm2.
- Sterilight feels that 30mJ is sufficient, and the US Dept. of Public Health feels that 16 mJ is sufficient (totally outdated).
- These systems are rated to sterilize 99.99% of all virus and microorganisms at a dose of 40 mJ / cm2 at the stated flow rates.
- Various models are available at higher flowrates.
- UV dose is the same for each model (40 mJ), only the "maximum flowrate" (in GPM) increases.
Civil Defense / Emergency Preparedness
- For Civil Defense / Emergency Preparedness Applications the 2 GPM model (S2Q-PA) and 5 GPM model (S5Q-PA) are available for special order in a 12 volt DC version for point of use disinfection of drinking water. This would be powered by any large 12 volt battery such as a deep cycle battery, car battery, solar power system, etc. The 2 GPM model (S2Q-PA) only consumes 19 watts, and the 5 GPM model (S5Q-PA) only consumes 26 watts, and both models deliver the highest recommended UV dose which is 40 milli-Joules per second @ stated flow rates. TIP: When the water flows slower than the stated flow rate you are actually delivering an even higher UV dose. In times of serious biological threat, consider using a flowrate of 1/2 the stated flow rate. (Why not?) If you are also using carbon filtration to treat the water, activated carbon works best at a maximum flow rate of 1/2 GPM anyways.
Using and Placing the UV system:
- It's best to place this system AFTER a water purification system, as close the the dispensing faucet as possible, such as 24" away.
- A different use would be to place this system immediately before an RO system or cartridge filter system if bioslime (bacteria slime) formation or virus growth within the filter system is a problem or concern. This can all clog cartridges and membranes.
- You can place this unit after an atmospheric storage tank to protect against any biological contamination that may occur inside the storage tank.
- Pretreat the water with a 1 micron Pleated Sediment Filter - or - a 1 micron Pleated Sediment Filter followed by a NanoCeram nanofilter if you have a turbidity problem. Turbidity (cloudiness) and sediments must be reduced to near-zero levels for UV Disinfection to work properly.
- UV Systems and UV Bulbs are designed to be operated 24 hours a day for 365 days a year, and are not to be turned on and off at will. On/off operation will allow microorganisms to pass through the unit and greatly also shorten the lifespan of the bulb.
UV Disinfection Performance:
- The Sterilight Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems all have a TYPE 304 stainless steel reactor chamber and are premium quality. Maximum Operating Pressure is 125 PSI.
- Extra High Power Ultraviolet Rays kill > 99.99% of virus, bacteria, cysts, and pathogens when water flow does not exceed the stated maximum flow rate.
- UV Lamps are designed to last for 365 days of continuous operation, and are easily replaced.
- Premium electronic controller provides a visual countdown of UV Lamp Life Remaining (in days)- and an audible beeping Lamp Failure Alarm!
- System requires an available grounded GFCI electrical outlet.
- Water quality is important for optimum performance of all UV Systems. The following levels are recommended: Turbidity: <1 NTU, UV Transmittance minimum 95%, Hardness: < 7 GPG , Iron: <0.3 ppm. Sulfur-none. UV disinfection requires clear water.
- Turbidity (suspended microscopic particles) is drastically reduced by using one of our NanoCeram filters or 1 micron pleated sediment filters.
- To reduce your Turbidity down to basically zero for 14,000 gallons, increase virus and bacteria removal efficiency, and protect your carbon blocks from clogging due to extremely fine sediments, consider using our SuperNano® Particle Filter as your sediment filter.
- Replace UV Bulb every 365 days.
- Clean or replace the Quartz Sleeve when dirty.
- For an S5Q or larger - due to the UV intensity, the manufacturer recommends that you do not let the UV rays directly contact any plastic fittings you may wish to attach to the In/Out ports. They recommend first a metal elbow fitting.

Economy UV Disinfection - 2 GPM Stainless Steel
(2 GPM) UV Disinfection Unit - Stainless Steel
This Economical 2 GPM UV Disinfection system kills 99.99% of bacteria, virus, and chlorine-resistant Cysts.
- All stainless steel chamber.
- UV Lamp is 16 watts, 110 volts.
- This system is rated to disinfect 99.99% of all virus and microorganisms at a UV dose of 30mJ / cm2 at 2 GPM flow rate.
- System comes complete, and with quick connect fittings that accept 1/4" O.D. John Guest tubing. If you need fittings for 3/8" tubing, please call us at 210-568-3628. Stainless Steel ports are 1/8" Female NPT.
- Replace 16 watt UV Bulb every 365 days.
- Replace or clean Quartz Sleeve when discolored or stained.
- All UV System require the water to be pre-filtered so turbidity (cloudiness) is less than 1 NTU (very clear- no cloudiness or particulates).
- A 5 micron sediment pre-filter is usually sufficient but if your water has particulates and turbidity in the 1-5 micron range that are passing through, then you should switch to a 1 micron sediment filter, which is better.
- You must be sure that the water flow does not exceed a flow rate of 2 GPM for this unit. Slower flow rates will actually increase the UV dose by allowing more UV contact time. A small John Guest ball valve will accomplish this nicely if your system does not have one. Our Carbon Block UV Systems already have this feature built in for you.

UV Systems for
TOC Reduction / Removal of Organic Compounds
UV Systems for TOC Reduction and Removal of Hydrocarbons and Halogenated Solvent Contamination.
- These systems use a shorter UV wavelength of 185 nm, and emit much more energy than a standard 254 nm lamp used for disinfection.
- This higher energy produces Hydroxyl free radicals (OH-) which in turn oxidizes most organic compounds (containing only C-H-O) into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).
- Halogentaed solvents and compounds will also break down, but will also release halogens, which still need to be removed.
- These TOC Reduction UV Systems all produce UV dosages in excess of 120 milli-Joules/cm2 even until the end of the lamp life using the special wavelength of 185 nm.
- A suitably designed TOC Reduction UV System can lead to 1-2 ppb reductions of residual TOC in the water supply.
- Both TOC Reduction and Microbial Destruction will occur with these 185 nm lamps.
- In applications where higher or lower UV doses are required to achieve varying levels of TOC Reduction, adjusting the flow rate of the unit can easily achieve the desired results.
- Consult with your professional consultant to be sure the system you are choosing is effective against your particular contamination issue. The manufacturer is willing to consult with qualified engineers and consultants who are trained in this type of work.
- We always recommend placing a large carbon filter downstream of this process, especially for halogenated compounds (compounds containing bromine, fluorine, chlorine, & iodine.) UV does not remove metals.
- This is professional equipment for professional use by qualified treatment consultants and engineers only. Use at your own risk. Do not use without the guidance of a qualified professional who is experienced with this technology. Proper use also entails laboratory testing of the water for the specific contaminants of concern, before and after treatment.
- Call us at 210-568-3628 to order the system prescribed by your engineer.
- STOC-4S is a 12 GPM system (195 watts) with 1" flange connections (120mJ/cm2).
- STOC-6S is a 19 GPM system (285 watts) with 1" flange connections (120mJ/cm2).
- STOC-8S is a 30 GPM system (375 watts) with 1" flange connections (120mJ/cm2).
- STOC-8L is a 66 GPM system (685 watts) with 2 " flange connections (120mJ/cm2).
- STOC-16L/2 is a 125 GPM system (1370 watts) with 2.5 " flange connections (120mJ/cm2).
