5 Stage RO Water Systems - Gold Series
This 5 Stage RO System is recommended for:
- people who want a top quality high purity RO System with an upgraded designer faucet and a few extra bonus features
- creating pleasant, crystal clear purified drinking water
- improving the taste of nasty, problematic water
- removing water softener salts, fluoride, nitrates, and metals
- reducing pesticides, herbicides, nitrates, and other pollutants
- removing disease-causing microorganisms (including viruses)
- creating healthier drinks and herbal teas with less pollutants (when present)
- reducing arsenic levels (when present) by typically 90-98% initially
Required Operating Conditions for this reverse osmosis system:
- Important: Maximum Hardness: 325mg/L (19 Grains, 19 GPG) although we strongly recommend 15 GPG maximum. Hard water combined with with a pH of 9.5 or higher will very quickly clog and destroy an RO membrane. If your water is too hard, pre-treating the hardness with a water softener is necessary.
- Minimum Operating Pressure: 45 PSI (with TDS levels <600 ppm)
- Recommended Minimum Operating Pressure: 50 PSI. NOTE: Higher pressures allow the unit to work more efficiently, with less water going down the drain. Higher TDS levels AND colder water require more pressure to push the water through the membrane
- Optimum Operating Pressure: 55-80 PSI .
- Maximum Operating Pressure: 100 PSI. An 85 PSI Filtamate Pressure Limiting Valve is highly recommended for water pressure above 80 PSI to protect against rogue water pressure spikes, which are VERY common in most municipalities.
- Temperature Range: 40 – 100 degrees F. Cold water passes through the membrane much slower than warm water, and will decrease the output of purified water per hour.
- pH: 3-11
- Maximum Feed TDS Level: 1,900 ppm TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) NOTE: Very high levels (>1,000 ppm) will require higher water pressure to push water through the membrane.
- Maximum Turbidity: 1.0 Net Turbidity (NTU)
- Maximum Iron (Fe): 0.1 mg/L
- Maximum Manganese (Mn): 0.05 mg/L
- Maximum Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S): 0.00 mg/L
- Maximum Chlorine: 2 mg/L (2 ppm), as long as carbon cartridges are replaced on schedule. Chlorine, ozone, and oxidizers damage RO Membranes.
- Acceptable water sources: Potable community source water or potable private well water that is properly chlorinated to provide proper microbiological protection. For liability reasons RO manufacturers and even UV Disinfection manufacturers will not take responsibility for giving you any microbiological protection, and therefore leave it up to you to be sure the water is first properly disinfected with chlorine. * Note: mg/L is the same as ppm (parts per million).
