Our high-quality Digital TDS Meter lets you know how well your RO membrane is performing. Although RO membranes usually last for 2-3 years, the Digital TDS Meter is one of your only surefire ways to determine whether your membrane needs replacing.

Use this device to measure the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) on your untreated tap water and compare it to the TDS reading of your RO water. This TDS water meter measures the combined weight of the solids, minerals, salts, or metals dissolved in your water.

Typically, if the Digital TDS Meter indicates that less than 85 % of the TDS is being removed, you may wish to replace your membrane.

Features of the Digital TDS Water Meter:

  • Measures TDS from 0-999 ppm, with a resolution of 1 PPM.
  • Measures TDS from 1,000 – 9,990 ppm, with resolution of 10ppm
  • batteries included
  • accurate to within +/- 2%.  Factory pre-calibrated.

How To Calculate:

  • Use a  calculator for easy results.

  • Take the ppms of Untreated Water and subtract from it the ppms of Treated Water.  (Example: 500 untreated – 95 treated  = 405 ppm removed.)

  • Take the ppm removed and multiply by 100.  (405 x 100 = 40,500)

  • Divide it by the ppms of Untreated Water. This is the Percent TDS Removed by your membrane or filter.  ( 40,500 / 500 = 81% TDS Removed.)

  • General recommendation: replace membrane if % TDS Removed is 79% or less.

  • “Extra purification” recommendation: replace membrane if % TDS Removed is 85-90% or less.

This will cause you to replace your membrane a little sooner than usual.  This is especially good if you know you have high levels of arsenic, toxic metals, solvents or pesticides in your water. This is also recommended if you have the usual trace level quantities, but you simply want to keep their concentration as minimized as possible.
